The river was high, and our trip went very quickly. Guides were exceptional, and we had a fantastic time. The campgrounds need work, and i would not recommend camping at cherokee adventures, but the rafting is great.

I was a little hesitant after reading the reviews on here, but we had a great time. We did the Lower Nolichucky Half Day. Yes the water was low, but it is the middle of summer! The guides told us the best time to go is at the end of May or beginning of June. This trip is great for young kids or beginners. If you are veteran kayaker or have spent time canoing, etc on a river, then this is definately not for you. I have 2 kids, 9 and 12, and although they are competitive swimmers, they had never paddled a boat before. They started out in the "funyaks" but moved to the raft after the first break. The "funyaks" are definately the way to go espcially for the adults and when the river is low. Our guides were very nice and helpful. This is all about the river. It is not DisneyWorld or the Ritz Carlton. The Lower is a nice paddle/float down the river with some rapids thrown in. We had a great time.

The guides were great but if you are rafting you spend most of your time sitting waiting on the funyaks to get through. The trip was too long and because of the waits very boring. I would not use these folks again.

We stayed here as a last resort and truly regret spending the low fee of $5 per person in a party of two. We arrived here and every employee sent us to another. The dirt road for this campground is only suitable for an suv to drive upon. We started heading down to the primitive campsites and were following the grounds map through the loop but everything was so overgrown that we couldn't even see the entire place. So we went to the site that an employee suggested was "the best" and found it covered with trash and animal feces. Although the view at the site was nice the smell and feces ruined it. We would've went somewhere else but by the time we had seen everything it was too late to get a site anywhere else. I wouldnt suggest this campsite to anybody.

What was supposed to be a half day trip down the lower Nolichucky ended up being a full day due to lack of organization. We were starved because we were supposed to get done in time for a late lunch but did not return until 5:30! We originally wanted to take a raft so that our family could spend time together, but it wasn't until we got down to the water that we were informed our group would be split up. When we explained that this wasn't our preference and would have preferred earlier notice, the owner of the company began yelling at us defensively. The guide was nice and the river is wonderful, but what was supposed to be a relaxing family trip became stressful and frustrating. We made the best of it, but I would not recommend Cherokee Adventures to anyone. Raft the Nolichucky, but do it with a different company.
